  COCA-COLA PUNJAB INTER SCHOOLS RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIP

PRESS  RELEASE               

Government High School Bahawalnagar emerge champions in the under-17 category beating Trust School Thokar Niaz Baig Lahore by 14-5 points and Garrison Boys High School beat Bahawalpur High School 5-0 points to take the winners cup in the under-14 category.              

the 2nd Coca-Cola Punjab Inter-School Rugby Championship 2007 was hotly contested at the Garrison Degree College Nishat Colony ( behind  DHA Block -A ) grounds on March 3, 2007.

In all 17 schools, 25 teams and 300 boys participated in a hotly contested full day event which saw a total of 33 matches played simultaneously on two pitches.

The championship was played on a 7's-a-side format , teams were  placed in group A- D , preliminary rounds were played by teams in each group to determine the group winner, 4 teams ( in both the under-14 and under-17 categories ) , then  entered  the knock-out stage to compete for the winners cup .

The opening ceremony was performed by Maj Gen M Ashraf Chaudhry – President Punjab Rugby Association and Mr Rizwan Khan Country Manager Coca Cola Export Corporation Pakistan the Chief Guest gave away the prizes to the participants, the PE teaches, School Principals and the victorious teams. The efforts of the School PE teachers ,  the Punjab Rugby Association development officer and coach were duly appreciated.

It was a great sight to see so many youngsters enthusiastically participating in a well organized Tournament played by International Standards and well conducted by a panel of referee’s and tournament officials.

The championship was arranged by the Punjab Rugby Association under the auspices of the Pakistan Rugby Union.
