fixture ,The matches between IRFC
and LRFC always a great event to
watch, the rivalry between Islamabad
and Lahore RC goes back to 1996.
there matches are at at level
that is always well contested, and
brings out the finest rugby in
Pakistan and not over to say that
finest rugby in South Asia. The
aggression of both the clubs is
always a treat to watch , with great
tackling , passing and fine rugby
skills.
The venue for
the Match will be Islamabad RFC
home field at F-10/4 Islamabad
,permanently allocated to Rugby by
CDA (Capital Development Authority)
at 4;30pm on Sunday 4th of January
2009. The IRFC ground is one of the
most picturesque grounds in Pakistan
and will be a great Location to
play the First rugby test match of
the Year the stadium is ideally
situated in the back view of the
Margalla hills with lush green field
and surrounding trees making it even
more attractive
the Fixture is
expected to be a full battle of the
clubs as many of the National Team
Players have there roots from these
old established clubs that have a
long standing tradition in rugby
with both clubs have played in
international events such as the
Dubai 7s in Dubai, , and the
prestigious All India and south Asia
tournament held in Mumbai India.
Lahore will be
captained by Manan naseem who is a
up and coming star on the Rugby
scene who also recently captioned
the UMT university to the Final of
the LUMS university Inter-varsity
rugby championship in the First year
of participation other notable
players to watch out in Lahore will
be winger Arsland zahid who makes
his come back after a 6 month leave
of absence due to injury, other
players would sair riaz at flanker
, umer usman at fly half , fawzan
wain at full back the forwards will
be led by Salman wain, the manger of
the club who will not playing due to
injury will be Haji Anwar lomu former
captain of the Pakistan national
team
Islamabad will be captioned by
Shiraz niazi who was a star of the
Pakistan Under 19 side that played
in the Asian championship in Lahore
in 1995, he has developed into a
very dependable player at the very
important fly half position ,

niazi ,billal butt and kashif
Khawaja who has also played rugby
for Clubs in England. this weekends

University sported by abbasi at
loack and Nawasish At flanker, and
in the backs Ali khan who had an
outstanding performance on IRFC
recent tour to Dubai in which IRFC
reached the quarter finals
