An opportunity to wear the Pakistan National Jersey

The Pakistan Rugby Union (PRU) invites all Pakistani rugby players residing overseas to make a beeline to the sport’s local governing body with a view to representing their country (National Team) at international tournaments in 2007/08.

The criteria which prospective players need to adhere to according to International Rugby Board (IRB) rules and regulations, will be as follows-
1-He must be born in Pakistan or
2-One parent or grandparent has to be born in Pakistan or
3-He has completed thirty six successive months of residence immediately preceding the time of playing etc.

This is also an effort to fall in line with other big time rugby playing nations such as Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa to name a few, who field players under the above eligibility rule in their 15-a-side and Sevens teams because of qualification through either residency or ancestry.

Rugby followers from United Kingdom, United States, France, Spain, Australia, Japan, Italy, Canada, New Zealand, FIJI & United Arab Emirates have shown interest in Pakistan Rugby.

The PRU international rugby calendar for 2007, sees the country’s 15-a-side team will go head to head with Thailand and Chinese Taipei in May 07, 2 test match series with Iran to be played on home soil in July 07, return visit to Iran in Oct 07 and participation in the Asian Tournament in Sri Lanka in Nov 07.

All  aspiring Pakistani rugby players abroad are hereby advised to contact the National Coach & Director of PRU, Rizwan Malik on E-Mail-riz@pakistanrugby.com
